The production was the final assessment for Screen Practice 111 run over the summer break of 2012-13. After successfully auditioning for a role, Chris was cast for one of the lead roles for “Silence of the Leaves” In addition to his experience, Chris was selected based on his ability to work within our diverse student group under the pressure of a short deadline. As an actor Chris was able to work within our initial script and storyboard framework, but also managed to suggest improvements from both a creative and a technical perspective.
We feel Chris managed to portray his character in a manner that was realistic while still being interesting and engaging. Chris was comfortable following the direction provided and understood very quickly what we were trying to achieve with the production, story and characters.
In addition the university restricted our film to only two lines of dialog, so as to ensure we told the story visually. This placed an extra burden on the actors to express emotion and communicate story using only facial expressions, body posture and physical actions. Chris rose to the challenge admirably and convincingly portrayed his character throughout the progression of the story.
Alistair Hind – Producer “Silence of The Leaves”
I recently worked with Chris on a short documentary I directed, casting him as a German soldier during WWII. Chris impressed me in the way he took what I thought was a difficult role, and transformed into a frighteningly severe soldier. At one point, Chris’ talent frightened me into calling ‘cut’, as his threatening performance pulled me into the illusion and unnerved me. Chris was professional, talented, and got along well with all of the other actors. He was always on time, offered lifts to other actors, and made himself available whenever he was needed. I hope to work with Chris again in the future, and I feel confident in recommending him for any role.
